This new system combines with new VisiJet® build and support materials to produce 100% real wax patterns for use in direct investment casting applications using standard investment materials and casting procedures.
While direct investment casting has been possible with existing additive production technologies, most have used photocurable resins that typically require significant modifications to end-user casting procedures to achieve desired casting results. Other existing technologies using wax-like materials are excruciatingly slow, often taking several days to produce only a few small patterns.
The new ProJet™ CPX 3000 3-D Production System offers both high production output and 100% real wax patterns that melt and burn out just like standard casting wax.
The new ProJet™ CPX 3000 uses 3D Systems’ patented and proprietary Multi-Jet Modeling (MJM) technology combined with new VisiJet® CPX200 wax build material and new VisiJet® S200 dissolvable wax support material to produce 100% RealWaxTM casting patterns that perform like injected wax patterns in lost-wax casting processes. There are two selectable build resolutions including a high definition (”HD”) mode with 40 micron z-layer thickness for high-speed production of small to large patterns and an extra high definition (”XHD”) mode with 16 micron z-layer thickness for extreme high definition production of patterns with the delicate fine-feature detail and smooth surface quality required for many micro-casting applications such as jewelry, apparel, medical instruments and devices, medical implants, replicas, collectables, and more.
