An iTouch on Steroids? WB Reviews the iPad!

Since the blogosphere first heard of an upgrade product deriving from the popular iPhone phenomenon Apple launched officially about a year ago, rumors have been flying, photoshop has been editing and the windmill has been blowing with whispers about the latest gem that will soon change the way portable devices are seen and used.

Then as if it came out of nowhere, the iPad was introduced.

Since this past week alone, Apple has launched a variety of ads, videos and images establishing the purpose and identity of the iPad: a touchscreen device that is large yet slim, perfect for any kind of media, fonts, email, “you don’t fit the device, the device fits you” kind of gadget.

Many wonder about the category or genre of where iPad fits in to competitors – because while movies can be played and books can be seen – what unfortunately downgrades iPad is that it is an ‘iTunes app’ based system. OSX programs can not be downloaded or used on iPad, categorizing it a step lower than a Macbook – while also keeping the sacred identity of the compatibility and use of an iPhone without additional contracts and fees with wireless providers.

So simply put; is the iPad an iTouch on steroids? Is it Apple’s version of a ‘Netbook’ laptop?

As clean, simple and easy to use as it is, our review from WB Engineering clearly focuses on the “win all” aspect Apple is targeting with this product. With the iPad, anyone that has a Blackberry or any other device that isn’t an iPhone, or with any wireless carrier that isn’t AT&T has the ability to check their email and enjoy media on the go at a level that outdoes iPhone.

The screen is bigger, so people that were previously turned off by the iPhone have the opportunity to experience the touchscreen and high-quality display as an ally with Apple itself rather than an opponent of Apple because of its carrier representation.

In addition to this, its lightweight body and simple features to take notes, check e-mail and manage a detailed calendar gives the iPad a ‘netbook’ feel so that it accompanies a Mac or Macbook for users on the go.

In conclusion, this is Apple’s brilliant marketing strategy to win over all audiences with a very ‘breath of fresh air’ industrial design and feel.
